We’re making it easy and affordable to collect data about noise
Noise isn’t just an annoyance – it can also be bad for your health
The World Health Organization (WHO) health protective guideline is 55 dBA (day/evening) and 40 dBA (night).
Research shows that health impacts of noise can include cardiovascular effects, sleep disturbance, mental health, and pulmonary disease.
Health impacts occur at levels from 42 – 60 dBA (Leq).
How it works
tRacket sensors monitor noise levels, and send data over the internet. The data is open and available to everyone through a dashboard.
Right now there are four sensors reporting data. Click a dot on the map below to see the data for that location.
We are volunteers
We are volunteers who are affected by noise. We couldn’t find an easy and affordable way to measure the noise we experience, so we made one.
We started working on tRacket in fall 2023 at Civic Tech Toronto hacknights, and launched this website in June 2024.
tRacket is a community effort, operated on a volunteer basis.
